Barbara Unmüßig
Barbara Unmüßig is President of the Heinrich Boell Foundation, a position she has held since 2002. She is responsible for the international work of the foundation with thirty offices abroad. Her work focuses on issues of globalization; international climate, resource, and agricultural policy; gender policy; and the promotion of democracy. In the early 1990s, she managed the UN Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) project office of the German League for Nature and Environment and Friends of the Earth Germany in preparation for the 1992 Earth Summit. In 1992, she was a founding member—and until 2002 spokesperson—of the Forum on Environment and Development, a German NGO. From 1993 until 2002, Barbara served as the executive chairperson of World Economy, Ecology, & Development (WEED).
