Tellus Institute is located at 11 Arlington Street in Boston's Back Bay. We are opposite the Boston Public Garden, between Beacon Street and Commonwealth Avenue.

Public Transportation

Tellus Institute is close to the Arlington Street Stop on the Green Line of Boston's subway system (The MBTA, or "T"); we are three short blocks north on Arlington Street (past the Taj Hotel). We are a 10 minute walk from the Charles Street stop on the Red Line, as well as the Back Bay station with Amtrak and commuter rail service.

Driving to Tellus

  • From Logan Airport: A taxicab is the most efficient means of coming from Logan airport; typical taxi fare to Tellus is approximately $12-$20. If driving, look for signs to Sumner Tunnel as you leave the airport on the main access road. After exiting the tunnel, take the second right onto Interstate Rte. 93 North. Follow I-93 for a short distance, exiting at the Cambridge/Storrow Drive Exit. Get onto Storrow Dr. and proceed for approx. 1/4 mile. Look for the exit sign for Back Bay/Copley Square. Take that exit; turn left at the light and then an immediate right onto Arlington St. Tellus is 1 1/2 short blocks on the right, just after Marlborough St.
  • From West of Boston: Driving East on the Massachusetts Turnpike, continue on Interstate Rte. 90 into Boston. Exit at the Copley Square Exit (22); the exit downloads onto Stuart St. Continue on Stuart St. for five blocks to South Charles St.; turn left onto South Charles. Proceed three blocks to Beacon Street. Turn left onto Beacon, and take the next left onto Arlington St. Tellus is 1 1/2 short blocks on the right, just after Marlborough St.
  • From North of Boston: Take Interstate Rte. 93 South into Boston. Look for the right turn Exit sign for Storrow Drive and follow right, then shortly follow the left lane onto Storrow Dr. Proceed for approx. 1/4 mile. Look for the exit sign for Back Bay/Copley Square. Take that exit; turn left at first light and then an immediate right onto Arlington St. Tellus is 1 1/2 short blocks on the right, just after Marlborough St.
  • From South of Boston: Take Interstate Rte. 93 North into Boston. Exit I-93 at the Kneeland Street/Chinatown Exit. At the stop light turn left onto Kneeland St. Drive approx. 3 blocks until Kneeland becomes Stuart St. Continue on Stuart and bear right onto So. Charles St. Continue 3 blocks on Charles to Beacon St. Turn left onto Beacon and take the next left onto Arlington St. Tellus is 1 1/2 short blocks on the right, just after Marlborough St.
